Waffle has been one of my favorite patterns since I made my first woolen bed runner. I love its fluffiness!
My very first waffle weave was a thin 5-shaft woolen bed runner in spring 2021. This autumn I finally had time to experiment more. I added shafts in order to make the structure more interesting and started using an effect color. For the bed runner above I dyed all wool myself to get exactly the colors I wanted.
So far I have woven four bed runners in the same style, two in a traditional waffle pattern with 8 shafts, and another two in a modified pattern with 10 shafts. I have tested different kinds of yarns and felted the ready-made ones gently.
